In Your Face: Barbara DeGenevieve

In Your Face: Barbara DeGenevieve, Artist & Educator was the first retrospective of its kind hosted at the SAIC Galleries in 2024. I worked both as the Administrative Assistant, as well as designer for the social media plan, posters, gallery guide, inserts, wall vinyl, research binders, and the official website at https://web.saic.edu/bdg/. The exhibition was also accompanied by a symposium 'In Your Face: A Symposium on Transgressive Pleasure' and a smaller student exhibition 'Subversive Pleasures: Mapping the Problematic' that I developed as well. This project was near and dear to my own artistic practice as it championed LGBTQ+ artists and the topic of sexuality that is often considered taboo. The most crucial aspect was honoring both DeGenevieve and the SAIC Galleries' history of prioritizing learning through art.
