Hold Me

Developed during the 2024 ARTGASM artist residency, the Hold Me series is a non-traditional triptych that explores connections within LGBTQ+ relationships, with a particular focus on WLW (women loving women). Across each piece, chains repeatedly appear to symbolize the various ways human connections and bonds manifest and support one another. All three pieces feature a monochromatic color palette and lack personal identifiers, such as faces, to foster anonymity and ambiguity. This approach encourages viewers to project themselves into the work, making the connection more personal and universal.

Hold Me Up

In Hold Me Up, the chains stretch a printed tapestry to give it form, with key rings attached to the tapestry through grommets using carabiners. This piece also features linocut prints of interlocked carabiners, symbolizing interconnectedness, while the denim fabric represents the resilience of sexual assault survivors within the community.

Hold Me Together

In Hold Me Together, chains and key rings are used to physically and symbolically hold together the fragments of body and painting, signifying the cohesive strength in relationships.

Hold Me Close

The materials and icons from the previous pieces reappear in Hold Me Close, where a ring of keys and a carabiner are depicted as a linocut print over a photograph. This serves both as a discrete signal to others and a reflection of personal identity through the customization of a keychain. The figure in the photograph wears denim and displays a chain tattoo—a matching memento shared with a friend, symbolizing their bond.
