GREED/NEED

Neon in Clear 8mm and acrylic backing | August 2025

GREED/NEED is the first in a series of neon installations interrogating how patriarchy, capitalism, and colonialism are embedded in our everyday language as structures that have historically marginalized those who do not uphold the racial and gender binaries. In this political moment marked by division, scarcity, and fear, we’ve collapsed desire into entitlement, reinforcing an oppressive logic that equates wanting with deserving. Language, like power, is not neutral. It shapes how we see ourselves and others, often upholding systems that silence, erase, and subjugate. I’m not offering answers, but rather opening space for dialogue. It is my intent to create art that acts as a facilitator for discussion. In times of crisis, we must remain critical of the narratives we consume and share. This work invites viewers to confront their complicity and consider the role of language through visual communication.
