Fresh Cut

The inspiration and passion for Fresh Cut came to me one evening while watching TV with my partner. An ad for Gillette Venus razors came on, and I was immediately sent into a frenzy over the marketing that depicted completely bare legs using the product. I joked that I needed to see razors, not just cutting hair, but a weed whacker that could take on the Amazon forest. On that day, I decided not to shave for as long as it would take to grow a full bush of pubic hair that could be mowed. I found further inspiration from the original vintage ads from Gillette which was the first company to market razors to women for aesthetic shaving of their genitals and the irony in the brand naming their women’s razors after the goddess of beauty and love, often depicted covering her pubic region but with more than plenty of hair.
